To visit the Do Ho Suh exhibition at the Victoria Miro gallery is to immerse yourself in colour. This week, both Julia and Louise visited and their Instagram accounts have been flooded with the ghostly images of Suh’s beguiling work. Suh is a Korean artist who has lived a fairly peripatetic life, moving from place to place for education and work. While most of us are concerned with the destination, Suh focuses on the spaces and places in between, the passages that lead us from a to b. In ‘Passage/s’, you walk through a corridor of fabric structures that are 3D representations of places Suh…
Thornback & Peel ♥ Marby & Elm. We’re a match made in heaven: vintage letterpress printer meets traditional screen printer, marrying age-old techniques with a modern design aesthetic. So for Valentine’s Day we decided to get together and create a unique card: Thornback & Peel’s classic Jelly illustration letterpressed with Marby & Elm’s signature fluoro script. At this time of year, the glow of candlelight is a lovely thing. I have a set of delicate porcelain tea light holders lined up on our mantelpiece and I love the ritual of lighting them on a dark winter’s night. Each light is pierced with a tiny pinprick design, the patterns of light that scatter across the room have the quality of fairy lights and fireflies. The random mixture of her designs also appeals. The tea light holders are individually hand made by ceramicist and fellow studio holder Anna Perring of Luna Lighting. Each one bears the maker’s mark,…
Internationally renowned fine jeweller Ruth Tomlinson works just along the corridor from us at Cockpit Arts. We love looking at her beautiful collections. The rough cut pieces and settings are more organic than conventional jewellery, creating a sense of history and buried treasure. There is a lot to covet.
Our stockist Lizzie Evans from SMUG, Islington, takes us on a tour of her favourite things to do over the long August Bank Holiday weekend. For her, long weekends are all about treats!

For the last 14 years, Sondervig, Denmark, has hosted an International Sand Sculpture Festival, featuring renowned sand-sculpting artists from around the world. Last year an awe inspiring Jurassic terrain was forged out of the sand and into the imagination of visitors.
Not heard of Velling Kirkeby? Neither had I until a very dear friend moved there a few years ago and now it’s one of my favourite places to visit. This is of course, in part, because Libby lives there, but also because it’s a beautiful, quiet place. Velling Kirkeby is a small town in West Denmark on the peninsula of Jutland, nestled next to the Ringkobing Fjord.
One of the greatest pleasures of a British summer is picking your own strawberries. Last Friday, with the kids on a school inset day, we headed off to Parkside Farm PYO in Enfield, north London.
