Guide to Lamb’s Conduit Street

2018 Update: We now no longer have our shop on Rugby Street. For our full collection, please visit our website

We consider ourselves pretty lucky to have our London shop nestled amongst some of London’s finest independent shops. Featured in the Guardian’s Top 5 little shopping streets and often cited as one of London’s hidden gems, Lamb’s Conduit Street is a haven of independent shops, cafes and restaurants.

Wander amongst the picturesque Georgian streets, pick up a book, visit our favourite cafe, and while whiling away the hours make sure you come and say hello to us.

Persephone Books, 59 Lamb’s Conduit St, London WC1N 3NB

Persephone Books began in a room above a pub in 1998. The original concept was to publish a handful of ‘lost’ or out-of-print books every year, most of them interwar novels by women.

Their beautiful books are all grey because the founder Nicola Beauman believes it is of great importance to take pleasure from how they look and feel (something we definitely subscribe to).

A lovely sun-filled corner cafe, serving delicious work-shop coffee, freshly-made sandwiches, and pastries from the Little Bread Pedlar.

Pentreath & Hall, 17 Rugby Street, London WC1N 3QT

A gorgeous trove of antiques, trinkets and new homewares, Ben Pentreath and Bridie Hall’s mixed aesthetic is undeniably chic and just a little eccentric. A great place for unusual gifts and situated on our road.

Cigala, 54 Lamb’s Conduit Street, London WC1N 3LW

On a sunny day it can feel like you’re in Spain, dozens of Cigala clientele spill out on to the street corner for long lunches and our shop becomes filled with delicious smells from their BBQ.

Maggie Owen London, 13 Rugby Street, London WC1N 3QT

On the site of a converted dairy, our next door neighbours Maggie Owen London sell a cornucopia of fabulous (sometimes flamboyant) costume jewellery. A magpies delight, while away hours here talking to Maggie about the individually chosen pieces and their respective designers.

And of course, there is our shop:

Thornback & Peel, 7 Rugby Street, WC1N 3QT

Originally a greengrocers, our beautiful shop is now fitted out with 1950’s cupboards, a glass cabinet we rescued from a museum and of course, all of our designs showcased side by side.

If you are visiting Bloomsbury, please pop in and say hello.
